Reminder—run/walk this Sunday
This Sunday's Manawatu Striders' half-marathon is a good chance to see a world class runner: Kenyan Joseph Maina, who has run the distance in 1 h 2 min 37 s, has entered. Probably pays to get there in good time, otherwise all you'll see is a pair of swiftly moving heels as he vanishes into the distance. Of course, you don't have to chase him over the full 21.1 km half-marathon distance; instead, you can run or walk the 10 km or 5 km events (note that if you enter as a walker, you're not allowed to run any part of the course). There's no late fee for the 10 and 5 km events, so you can enter as late as 30 minutes before the event starts. As Sarah's already pointed out, there are spot prizes as well, so even if you don't manage to beat Joseph to the finish line, you might not come away empty-handed.
See you there.
